Overcoming a Problem with the Help of Florus

The design for this awkward shaped and sloping garden shows what can be achieved with a difficult site. A seating area at the end of the garden captures the last of the evening sun and raised beds and an ornamental gravel path combine practicality with an attractive solution.

Our solution was to remove the lawn and replace it with a circular central patio. Surrounded by raised cobbles which were attractive and deterred the dogs from walking on the planted areas.

The problem in this New Forest front garden was a bland and boring outlook with grass that had been ruined by the clients’ dogs.

Sandstone walling and paving lightened the garden and provided the much needed terracing to make the whole garden usable. Attractive planting softens the hard landscaping.

The before photo illustrates how steep the slope in this garden was. Heavy clay soil meant that drainage was a problem.
