Coastal Garden

Description: Decorative gravel, cobbles and boulders are placed amongst selected planting, creating a low maintenance garden with year round colour and interest.
A hardwood boardwalk leads from a decked seating area in front of the house.

Tall and airy Miscanthus is an ideal coastal plant. It is both low maintenance and tolerant of salt winds. Mediterranean plants with contrasting shape and colour soften the edges of the boardwalk.

The brief was to create a front garden that complimented the contemporary design of the property. The back garden was shady and so a sunny but private seating area was to be created in the front. The plan had to consider parking, whilst providing a strong modern design supported by architectural planting. The finished result was very successful allowing the clients to enjoy the front garden, whilst satisfying practical requirements of parking and maintenance.
